As we head into the last two weekends of November I am still wondering where September went? Time goes so fast and we have been very, very busy. The daily melt & pours are now averaging between 100 to 200 votives and at least 500 tealites….each time!
We have some fund raisers going on locally, one is with the Peng You Taiji Association and the other fund raiser set to start soon is with Hope for Malawi. This organization was started in 2006 by a local 9 year old boy, Jaako Polkki whos mission is to help needy children in Malawi. To find out more about this cause, or to donate please go to their website at www.hopeformalawi.net
Ín other news there is a brand new fragrance set to be launched on Saturday November 21st, 2009. Check out Bee Happy’s newest creation of “New Moon” in votives and tealites. This blend was created with the movie in mind, for all the “Twi-hards” out there!
We are still taking bookings for Christmas parties and staff gifts. Please give us a call if you would like more information on using Bee Happy Candles as employee gifts during this season or at any time of the year.
And finally, we have some help now and not just the usual unsuspecting family members and friends that have been more than gracious volunteering their time over the years. We now have Amanda and Angela joining the Bee Happy team. So if you get out to the Valhalla this weekend for Artisan’s Northwest, please come by and meet our newest candle “elves”!

It seems like we just finished enjoying the August long weekend and here we are in November already. The time just seems to go by so fast.
Our workshop is a “bee hive” of activity at this time of the year. We are melting and pouring usually 4 to 6 days per week and averaging 100 votives and around 500 tealites per pour per day. Last year we poured over 12,000 tealites alone. That isn’t taking into consideration all of the votives; the bees wax dinner candles or the hand crafted bees wax designs. This year we had already poured over 12,000 tealites by September so the final count at year end will be interesting and may explain some of the tiredness that occasionally creeps up.
The co-worker/greeter Zaida Sage is doing a great job with meeting everyone with a full body wag and usually a toy just in case they may want to play fetch, (she is a black lab for those that don’t know). Her favourite toy these days is a little cloth bee on a cloth jar of honey. I think she loves her job too!
There is some fantastic new inventory just arrived with some very unique wall decor of frogs, butterflies and some geckos just to name a few. So if you have some time drop in and check out the candle shop, we would “Bee Happy” to show you around!

I am getting pretty excited as my web page comes closer and closer to completion. My web wizard Nancy is simply amazing! Somehow she managed to come up with a design which is exactly how I pictured it. Having Nancy from Timberline Web Designs take over this task for me is such a great relief and it frees up my time to be melting and pouring. Today was bees wax day, the shop smells fantastic, the whole place just feels great. I love bees wax. As Oprah would say, it is one of “my favourite things”.

Since this is all brand new to me, this will be a learning curve to say the least. We have been very busy little bees in the workshop getting ready for the Christmas season. New pours this week were Gingerbread Spice, Hot Buttered Rum, Coconut Chocolate Milk, Mint Chocolate, Orange Vanilla, Kiwi, and Sparkling Snowflake.
As always, we are open by chance or by appointment and there are also some scheduled hours posted too. In Thunder Bay you can also find some Bee Happy products at PARO Presents which is located at 111 N. May Street and also at VillEdge Art which is right across from the world famous Hoito Restaurant on Bay Street. Lakeside Husky on Cumberland Street has a great selection of votives in stock too!
